Letter: Borders don’t fence in right to free speech

Regarding the June 20 letter to the editor, "Inappropriate venue for singer's remarks": Estelle Engel would like us to believe that freedom of speech is restricted to the borders of the United States.
Freedom of speech is just that. There is no asterisk attached to the Bill of Rights that indicates the Bill of Rights does not apply outside of the borders of the United States of America.
The Dixie Chick who made those comments simply shot herself in the foot - much the same way our president has done over the last few years.
