Letter: Bush’s top concern should be for troops
Thursday, June 15, 2006 | 7:19 a.m.
After looking at the photo on page 5 of Tuesday's Sun - which contained the following cutline, "Leslie Thurman and her sons Logan and Lane on Monday stop to read the name tags on military boots on display in Columbus, Ohio, that represent soldiers killed in Iraq." - the tears flowed. And then I read Archie Weitman's excellent letter that same day with the headline, "Bush needs to realize war is serious matter." And the tears flowed again, harder.
Precious lives are being lost every single day while Bush prioritizes topics most Americans couldn't care less about. He must deal first with the fact our heroic young men and women are being killed by cowards who use their own people as body armor. How can they possibly defend themselves against that kind of an enemy and not harm civilians?
What will it take for the president to understand - enough is enough!
