Letter: U.S. automakers should study Japan’s

This is in response to American car manufacturers losing money.

First, I advise their engineers to visit Toyota and Honda factories to learn how to put cars together with quality.

Second, stop changing car body styles and improve mechanical functions, such as four-wheel disc brakes with ABS on all models.

They say the older generation is expanding at a rapid pace, and if they took a survey among them, they would find that quality and safety are the No. 1 requirement, not car body styles.

Safety concerns are also not met when they started making the windows smaller and smaller, reducing visibility and creating more accidents. And, finally, the cars with small windows are beginning to look more like armored trucks than passenger cars.

Also, American car manufacturers should invest in ethanol refineries to recoup some of their losses.
