Letter: Development should carry its own weight

Regarding the Las Vegas Sun's June 9 story, "Facing a shortage of funds for roads":

The highway gridlock problem in Las Vegas is that increased services demanded by the growth has outstripped our existing infrastructure, including our highways. In other words, growth is not paying its way.

It is long past time to impose impact fees on real estate development (residential, commercial and resorts) in Clark County to fund highway improvements needed in this community. I have never understood why current Las Vegas residents are taxed to subsidize the infrastructure built and needed to support real estate development.
