Letter: Political games waste time and money
Saturday, June 10, 2006 | 7:19 a.m.
I am so fed up with politics. The games our elected officials play endanger our country and put lives at risk. Mr. Bush started a war so he could be re-elected president.
He sent more than 2,400 brave young men and women to their deaths just so he could strut around and say: Look at me, I'm a War President. These human beings are not tin soldiers.
Before a person is selected as a candidate for our top political positions, I would like to see them undergo a battery of psychological tests to find out beforehand just exactly what makes them tick. Do they have a conscience, feel remorse, are levelheaded and not going to jump into a rage and destroy our civilization?
Are they honest, do they truly want to serve the people or are they only out to promote their own agenda? Do they listen, do they consider various options and solutions to problems? Are they living in reality or some fantasy?
This could save time and money. Voters wouldn't have to waste time listening to all the lies being touted and the candidates could donate all the campaign funds to worthwhile charities.
