Letter: Countdown to end of embarrassment
Sunday, July 23, 2006 | 7:42 a.m.
Not realizing that his schoolyard assessment of the hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah was being picked up by a live microphone at the summit of world leaders, President Bush again demonstrated his ability to embarrass America with his simplistic statements on world affairs.
Having contributed nothing but turmoil in the Middle East during his time in office, our president's candid comments, uttered through a mouth full of food, showed how little he has to contribute to matters of state.
Undaunted by the failures of the G8 Summit, our president returned home to exercise the first veto of his presidency as he disregarded the bipartisan efforts of both houses of Congress by vetoing a bill they passed to expand federal funding for stem-cell research.
Cheer up America, as of my writing this letter, there are only 915 days, 13 hours, 1 minute and 23 seconds left in Bush's term.
But who's counting?
