FLASHPOINT for July 19, 2006
Wednesday, July 19, 2006 | 3:09 a.m.
For about a month we have been searching in vain for Rep. Jim Gibbons, the putative frontrunner to be Nevada's next governor. But he has ducked a debate on "Face to Face" and we couldn't even get Lt. Gov. Lorraine Hunt to come on with state Sen. Bob Beers. To his credit, Beers came on and took the heat. Say what you will about him needing the air time, he deserves kudos. So, too, do Dina Titus and Jim Gibson as the state Senate minority leader and Henderson mayor this week agreed to a third primary season debate on "Face to Face" This one takes place July 26, three days before early voting begins. So let's run it down. Gibbons: Chicken. Hunt: Chicken. Beers, Gibson and Titus: Not chickens.
