I shouldn't be feeling this way because I think Tax and Spending Control is such a bad idea and part of a pernicious trend of government by initiative. But I can't help but feel some glee as I watch opponents scramble to find all manner of artifice to get TASC thrown off the ballot. They tried by blocking the signature-collectors. They tried by asserting signature fraud. They tried by saying there were too many versions. Who knows what they will come up with next? The reason the foes are so desperate is they are afraid to debate the idea - limit government spending to population growth plus inflation - on the merits. They think voters will fall for the sound-bite version. And, alas, they are probably right.
