FLASHPOINT for Jul 12, 2006

I bet Robert Rose is thrilled. The local gadfly who spends a lot of time filing ethics complaints had raised a ruckus about Sen. Harry Reid and those ringside boxing seats. So the country's most powerful Democrat (well, maybe) wrote him a sincere, personal letter (well, maybe), saying, "I appreciate hearing from you." I bet. Reid explained to Rose that those were "credentials" and not tickets he took and that they "did not change my position on the need for federal boxing legislation." Reid acknowledged the credentials "may have given the wrong impression to some observers," and says he won't take them again. So is Rose satisfied? Are gadflies ever satisfied? Does the buzz ever go silent?
