Letter: Another benefit from an unlisted number

Regarding the Las Vegas Sun's July 5 story, "Las Vegas is a haven for the unlisted":
I was not surprised by the large number of people who have unlisted phone numbers. They gave various reasons for preferring to stay "out of touch." I have one of my own.
I try to avoid people, who I barely knew in my old hometown, who call to tell me that they have just hit Las Vegas and maybe we can get together for dinner and then I can show them the sights. This on a night I am tired and looking forward to lounging in front of the TV.
By the way, they tell me, they don't want to impose, but their hotel room is very costly, so do we have room in our house to put them up for a week or so? Their four kids are well behaved and won't be a problem.
