Letter: Plenty of terrorists right here at home
Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006 | 9:24 a.m.
Why did the United States have to travel thousands of miles to seek and destroy terrorism when we have plenty of it right here in our own back yards?
Who are terrorists? Can't gang members be labeled terrorists? Don't they bring fear to people when they randomly shoot people in the streets or invade their homes? What about the other terrorists who rape women, kidnap children, molest children? What about the terrorists who mug people or the ones who commit identity theft? Aren't gay bashers terrorists to the gay community? Isn't the Ku Klux Klan a terrorist group?
Why doesn't the media put those statistics on the TV screen nightly so the American people can see on a daily basis how many right here at home are terrorized 24/7?
I would like to know how President Bush defines a terrorist. How exactly is he keeping America safe from drive-by shootings, home invasions, rapes and hate crimes?
I for one don't feel any safer since Mr. Bush took office. In fact, not only do I have to worry about our own terrorists in the United States, but now I also have to worry about new foreign terrorists who Mr. Bush created when he decided he wanted to leave a legacy as a war president and invaded a country on false accusations that he perpetrated on the American public and Congress.
