Letter: No shortage of nonsmoking slobs

The Sun has recently run letters about smoking. I am a smoker. When in a casino, I try to sit in a remote place where most of the machines are not occupied. I also will not sit next to a person because my smoke might offend them.

A few years ago I was at a casino about 4 a.m. The whole row of machines was empty (about 15 machines). There were also machines on the next row that were totally empty. This woman came by and sat right next to me and did her hand waving. She left and a couple of minutes later sat right next to me on my other side. My question is why do nonsmokers insist on sitting next to smokers and complain? Clearly, there were plenty of other machines to play.

Regarding Walter E. Gunther's comment in his Jan. 25 letter that smokers are "some of the biggest slobs," cigarette smokers are not the only slobs in this world. I can't count how many times I have gone to the ladies restroom only to find that someone dirtied the toilet seat even though almost every casino has paper toilet protectors. If you don't want to use the toilet seats, don't squat and let someone else sit in your pee.

I have seen toilet paper and napkins strewn all over the restroom even though there are plenty of garbage cans to throw your trash in. Just look at our parks and highways to see what slobs people are. (I have seen containers from fast-food restaurants and dirty diapers.)

Yes, I know smoking is a dirty, bad habit. But please, people, look in the mirror before you criticize a certain group of people.
