As part of a busy weekend on the Strip, the 52 contestants competing for the 2006 Miss America title visited the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian on Sunday. Earlier in the day they were greeted by a large crowd at the Fashion Show mall. On Saturday Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman presided over an official welcome ceremony at the Aladdin, site of this year's pageant. For the first time in its 85-year history, Miss America will not be crowned in Atlantic City. Tickets to Saturday night's show at the Theatre for the Performing Arts, to be hosted by "Desperate Housewives( co-star James Denton, are sold out. The pageant will be broadcast, tape-delayed, at 8 p.m. on CMT (Cox cable channel 57).
