Letter: Traffic is even worse than you think
Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006 | 8:38 a.m.
Regarding Karene Williams' Jan. 4 letter, "Roadwork must catch up to development": Gridlock is too mild a word for what is happening on the south Strip near the new South Coast. We live just a (long) block away at Paradise Spa Condos.
At most times of the day, we cannot make a left turn to go to South Coast or the nearby shopping mall. Nor can we make a left turn to return home from trips north of the area. We have to detour to Pebble Road where there is a traffic light via a series of back streets.
It's even worse when we've gone to the Silverton -- and there are no alternate paths.
We used to marvel at how Las Vegas kept up with its growth, but somehow it all just fell apart in the past few years. The housing, industrial and even casino construction is all very necessary to keep up with the burgeoning population -- but somebody fell asleep at the wheel when it comes to road construction.
