Letter: Grudge should not come before safety

It is utterly ridiculous to drop the city of Las Vegas from a list of cities -- considered potential high-risk targets -- for special anti-terrorism grants.

Las Vegas continues to be the largest growing area in the country and has the largest tourist population in the entire United States.

The Republican administration is making a grave error in allowing the Homeland Security Department to take the needed funding to combat terrorism in Las Vegas.

Getting revenge on Sen. Harry Reid for his views against the White House is playing Russian roulette with about 1.7 million lives, and leaves a gigantic void on our city to open the flood gates to another 9/11 disaster in which terrorists will for sure move forward with their terrible plans.

Political vendettas do not solve anything when it involves people's lives and the freedoms for which this country stands.

The Bush administration should send those necessary funds to the Las Vegas area to keep this country safe as soon as possible.
