Letter: High schoolers ignore crosswalks
Friday, Jan. 6, 2006 | 7:58 a.m.
Regarding the Sun's Jan. 4 story, "Agreement is in works on maintaining crosswalks in the valley":
I live in a neighborhood just north of Craig Road. On the other side of Craig Road is Cheyenne High School. Each day when school lets out there must be a least 50 to 100 high school students who cross Craig Road.
At least 50 percent to 75 percent of these so-called young adults do not use the crosswalks that we do have. They are to my knowledge "jaywalking," which is against the law and they should get a ticket issued to them. About half of them cross in front of a moving car or truck without even looking both ways.
Another idea would be to arrest these jaywalkers and require their parents to come down to City Hall and bail them out.
