LAS VEGAS - A fugitive from Indiana was found dead inside a motel room after police tried to coax him into surrendering, Las Vegas police said.
The man, whose name was not immediately released, was found dead late Tuesday of a self-inflicted gunshot after SWAT officers entered his room at a motel near Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas police officer Jose Montoya said.
Police said the man had been sought in a slaying in Howard County, Ind.
He was located at the motel late Tuesday. Police surrounded the building, evacuated nearby residents, tried to open a line of communications and set off flash-bang grenades before entering the room, Montoya said.
