Letter: Stubbornness should get Bush impeached
Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006 | 8:41 a.m.
If there ever was a time to impeach President Bush it is now. Making secret deals with an Arab nation and allowing Congress only a last-minute view of a deal that is dangerous to our security is not something that should be overlooked. This has happened on many other occasions.
The United Arab Emirates is a country like Switzerland, a so-called neutral during World War II, but it will blow with any wind that is financially advantageous to it. Like it said in a recent Sun editorial, terrorists started their flights in the U.A.E., al-Qaida money flows through that country; it opposes Israel and allows nuclear components to go through its port.
How fortuitous that the U.A.E. is mandated to participate in the U.S. security programs ... at least it can then tell the terrorists how to dodge our security setups!
The president has no right to announce that he will veto any bill Congress may create to block the sale.
