One of the keys to Henderson Mayor Jim Gibson's success against Senate Minority Leader Dina Titus, the school of thought goes, is whether a horde of conservative Republicans become Democrats before Aug. 15. Since Titus is the more liberal gubernatorial contender, Gibson needs all the help he can get in a low-turnout primary. So far, though, it ain't happening. Latest figures from the Clark County Election Department show only 293 new Democrats appeared on the rolls last month. The Democrats actually lost 210 voters to the GOP and nonpartisan status. The Republicans lost 187. There is no party-switching movement going on. And time flies.
