Letter: Not all smokers are impolite

For his information, I am, and always have been a "polite" smoker, and not a lazy slob, either. i, too, search out areas in the casino that are less occupied but, invariably, a nonsmoker will sit right next to me when I have a lit cigarette in plain view, and then complain to me!
I totally agree with another letter writer, Pride Smith, in that health is the real issue with smoking ... and, consequently, I am an avid petitioner to mandate that casinos be required to upgrade and install state-of-the art filter systems and have spent a great deal of time in pursuit of this accomplishment.
On the other hand, rather than spend his energy with unnecessary name-calling, Mr. Gunther might consider extending his anger to the various agencies, such as the Environmental Protection Agency and the Food and drug Administration, to clean up the air we breathe, (which is far more dangerous than cigarette smoke and inescapable), and remove the toxins and poisons in our food. I guess the only real solution is to simply quit breathing and eating.
