Letter: Be careful what you wish for, Mr. President

Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006 | 8:46 a.m.

I have to laugh out loud at President Bush's phony call for the "democratization" of Middle East countries. Bush calls for "democratic" elections in the region and he got his wish.

In Iraq, the people voted for a majority of Shiites who are loyal to the Iranian Muslim clerics. In Iran, they went overwhelmingly for a strong anti-American radical. And now in the Palestinian territory, still under the occupation of Israel for 38 years, the real laugher is the landslide victory of the Hamas.

Now Bush and his regime are whining that the free "democratic" vote by the people isn't what he wanted. Perhaps what is missing is a Supreme Court in those lands who would appoint their favorite party as happened on Dec. 12, 2000, when G.W. Bush was anointed King George by a 5 to 4 vote.
