Letter: Evidence mounting that Bush is in denial

Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006 | 7:04 a.m.

It is becoming very clear from numerous sources that President Bush is clearly in a state of denial.

Bob Woodward in his book "State of Denial," former national security adviser Brent Scowcroft in his statements, and now former President Gerald Ford in remarks published Thursday (made to Woodward in 2004 ) clearly believe we are on "the wrong track."

Where is a Gerald Ford in the Republican Party who will sit down with Bush and tell him to either get with it quickly or suffer a rebuke from his own party?

As a country, we cannot let one man continue with ruinous policies that are not in the best interests of our country.

On the television show "Hardball" on Thursday, Chris Mathews, who is most often very objective, said something that made a lot of sense. He said that it's really the Democrats and Republicans against the neocons surrounding Bush.

We must take some positive action to get our country back on track.
