Letter: Bush insults citizens’ intelligence
Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006 | 7:03 a.m.
Is President Bush stupid, or does he think the American people are stupid?
President Bush at one time said, "I am the decider and I decide what is best, and what is best is for Donald Rumsfeld to remain as secretary of defense." Following the election, President Bush said that "sometimes it's necessary to have a fresh perspective and Bob Gates will bring a fresh perspective." Bob Gates replaced Donald Rumsfeld. Does that mean a fresh perspective replaces what is best?
President Bush said we are absolutely winning in Iraq (even though the Iraq Study Group indicated in its report that the war in Iraq is grave and deteriorating). Now our president says we are not winning, but we are not losing.
Correct me if I am wrong, but the opposite of right is wrong, the opposite of up is down, the opposite of night is day and the opposite of win is loss. This president cannot have it both ways, and it is time he stop insulting the intelligence of the American people. Thus, my first sentence of the letter.
