MOMENTS 2006
Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006 | 7:21 a.m.
Newspaper photographers are the eyes in the community. They record the valley's stories by freezing time with their cameras. As the year ends, the Sun's photographers looked back at their favorite images. For Sam Morris, it wasn't the buzz of big-name drivers and 120,000 fans at the NASCAR race, but a dirt track in Pahrump where he found passion and low-budget thrills. R. Marsh Starks looked beyond the robotic movements of candidates in debates to catch a glimpse of humanity the television cameras don't show. Steve Marcus let his guard down by admitting photographers can be as competitive as boxers when he captured a fighter out cold on the canvas. And Tiffany Brown turned away from the action to put a face on the immigration debate. Over the next four days, the Sun's photographers will share more of their favorite moments.
