Letter: Let’s give thanks to Donald Rumsfeld
Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006 | 7:20 a.m.
May I say that just because Vice President Dick Cheney named Donald Rumsfeld as the best defense secretary is no reason to cast disparaging remarks against this fine American. Maybe the liberals don't endorse President Bush, but despite all of the backbiting and negative remarks about President Bush, Mr. Rumsfeld did a splendid job as the defense secretary and had the best interests of America in mind as he performed his job.
From Afghanistan to Iraq, from North Korea to any point imaginable, Mr. Rumsfeld was not only effective but also excelled in doing the job of defending America. I, for one, will thank God for this man and set forth his actions as both honorable as well as most well thought out.
The detractors, who deny the truth to what was accomplished by Mr. Rumsfeld and President Bush, can only be seen as shortsighted. It is through unity that this nation will prevail against those who would do us harm. The sooner this is seen as truth, the better for us all.
