FOR LOVE OF THE GAME

Bonanza wrestlers Stuart Montenegro, Court Oswald and Daniel Wosik listen as coach Tod Weaver goes over video of Wosik's last match at the 2006 Las Vegas Holiday Classic wrestling meet.
"Dan lost his match, and we went over the film to see what went wrong so it doesn't happen again," Weaver said. "He was wrestling a really strong kid, and he tried to go muscle to muscle instead of focusing on technique."
In the world of wrestling, technique is as important as - if not more so - brute strength. "At this level, relying on just strength is like roulette: Five times you win, and five times you end up on your back," Weaver said.
"But Dan's a good kid, and he's been wrestling for a long time," Weaver said of his 171-pound grappler, whom he refers to as the Curly Headed Monster. "He just reverted back to wrestling like a kid and got thrown on his back."
And if watching video and pointing out what went wrong weren't enough to get through to Wosik, Weaver added, "If you write an article, be sure to say Dan needs to listen to his coaches or he'll get pinned again."
