John Katsilometes on the world tour of Fred Nassiri, who’s promoting world unity through song

Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006 | 7:12 a.m.

He boasts a giant bank account with a heart to match.

Las Vegas wholesale clothing magnate, real estate developer and occasional recording artist Fred Nassiri continues to spread his flavor of goodwill with the recording of his self-financed CD "Love Sees No Color," set for release next year. As a vocalist, Nassiri won't make anyone forget Johnny Mathis, but he has spent considerable time and resources traveling the globe and meeting with such world leaders as Pope Benedict XVI, Nelson Mandela and Shimon Peres in an effort to promote world peace.

The video for the single "Love Sees No Color" (which was recorded in 12 languages), was recorded in Egypt, Israel, Palestinian territories, Russia, Germany and France. Nassiri, who owns his own Nassiri Music label (a convenience for any recording artist), is known for expensive promotions: Several years ago he paid several hundred thousand dollars to shut down a segment of the Strip for the recording of the video "Singing to You," and even hired Wayne Newton to make an appearance (Nassiri is also friends with venerable Vegas crooner Robert Goulet).

Nassiri just wrapped the second leg of his worldwide crusade, having traveled to the Great Wall of China, the Imperial Palace (the one in Tokyo, not on the Strip), the Taj Mahal and, finally, the Statue of Liberty, on video shoots. In a news release, Nassiri says he hopes to raise $100 million for "education, jobs and public welfare" and says his music has genuine healing power. To check out the CD, go to www.nassirimusic.com.

As Playboy is to the Palms, Esquire is to Caesars Palace. Although on a far smaller scale than the Playboy-Palms marriage, the distinguished magazine Esquire and dignified resort Caesars Palace have partnered with Absolut vodka in the Find Your Flavor suite (a VIP party hosted by Esquire Editor in Chief David Granger was held at the new digs on Tuesday night). Located on the lucky 13th floor of the Roman Tower, the two-level, 1,380-square-foot suite was designed by the Rockwell Group and features a dance floor and six spaces themed for various Absolut flavors (one bedroom is decked out in surf decor, complete with a surfboard in a corner, for Absolut Citron). Nonpeak rates for the suite start at $2,000 per night ...

There are also "other events" planned, but they are being kept secret, behind the curtain, yet to be unveiled ...

The item I wrote last week about the implied F-word application at Art Bar and French Connection United Kingdom prompted a reader to send a photo of the sign above Divebar at 3035 E. Tropicana Ave. The photo was taken on "Black Friday," after Thanksgiving, and the sign clearly uses the F-bomb in its entirety with the message that passers-by should "(Forget) shopping, come have a beer." And with that, this competition is over ...
