Letter: Forgiveness only gets granted for apologies

Have you ever seen a group so determined not to admit mistakes made by Republicans? The latest example is letter writer Lee S. Gliddon Jr. ("Katrina could not have been prevented," Aug. 30), trying to say that it's Democrats blaming President Bush's FEMA agency for their slow response to Hurricane Katrina.

The fact is that every impartial observer, including many Republicans, were upset at the snail's pace response of this agency and its head, Michael Brown, who at that time when he was being interviewed, wasn't even aware of the destruction and devastation that was being shown on all the television shows. Yet this is the man that days later President Bush raved about - "... heck of a job, Brownie."

Republicans should realize that humans make mistakes, and most people can usually accept an apology for errors made. But to refuse to acknowledge any mistakes puts them in competition with God.
