Letter: Smokers surely can’t plead ignorance

Regarding the Sun's Aug. 21 editorial, "Guilty! Now go celebrate - Virtually no penalties imposed despite racketeering ruling against tobacco companies":
I have lived in eight countries, and in every one of those countries I never met a smoker who did not know that cigarettes or tobacco products were addictive and bad for their health. They just didn't care, and said so.
To those who have died or suffered terribly from the effects of cigarettes and other tobacco products, I have three words, "Read the package."
