Letter: Vice president’s words not fit to print
Monday, Aug. 21, 2006 | 7:20 a.m.
Recently Vice President Dick Cheney said that electing people who question the Republican war in Iraq encourages "the al-Qaida types." Since that time, journalists around the country have debated the preposterous statement as if it were a legitimate question.
Enough is enough - we welcome an honest debate on the war on terror and our national security, and will no longer stand by while our candidates are needlessly skewered by the unbalanced media coverage of the war and upcoming elections.
Democrats offer a new direction. We'll do a better job of fighting the war on terror by taking the target off the backs of American troops in Iraq; we'll get serious about capturing or killing Osama bin Laden; and we'll be ready for threats to our safety and security here at home, whether it's terrorism or hurricanes.
It's time for the media stop focusing on the un-American slander of Republicans on the defensive. Americans deserve objective reporting.
