Letter: The sooner we get out of Iraq, the better

As this administration's failed war policies became more evident at the recent hearings in the Senate, it adds to the fact you cannot establish a democracy with a bullet, a ballot and a bottle of ink.
This attempt at colonialism has no more chance than the numerous attempts we've seen fail in Africa over the decades.
Whether we pull out of the Middle East now or later, it will only be a matter of months before religious coup d'etats return Afghanistan and Iraq to their primeval, religious, prewar states. And if Saddam Hussein isn't dead, there is every possibility he could once again regain control of Iraq.
We are in the same late stages of failure we were in Vietnam. The sooner we get out, the more lives we save. There are better ways to fight these regimes.
