FLASHPOINT for Aug 11, 2006
Friday, Aug. 11, 2006 | 7:48 a.m.
There have been no polls released yet on the Clark County sheriff's race. But one will be soon, courtesy of Mason-Dixon, which conducted the poll for the Las Vegas Review-Journal. I would like to save the R-J the trouble of printing the results by releasing them here. I know - I am too kind. The numbers are not surprising - Jerry Airola and Doug Gillespie are in a dead heat and Laurie Bisch and Bill Conger are tied for third with about half the votes the front-runners have. Primaries are notoriously difficult to gauge, even for the best pollsters in the business. But intuitively those numbers make sense. And because Airola's name is first on the ballot among 16 contenders, you have to give him a slight edge.
