Letter: Taxi’s bad driving has reader sick
Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006 | 7:34 a.m.
I am sick of the bad drivers out there, especially cab drivers. Many seem to think they can drive any way they please. I recently saw a particularly dangerous example and only wish I had been able to get the cab number and company name.
While heading east on Russell Road, I was stopped at the light at Eastern Avenue, waiting to go through. A cab in the right turn lane (to go south on Eastern) suddenly turned on his left turn signal, and when the light changed, he shot in front of three lanes of east-bound traffic, squeezed in to the right of left-turning traffic, and flew north up Eastern. He narrowly avoided causing a horrific rush-hour accident. Where are the police when these things happen?
Shame on such cab drivers, who disobey laws and put citizens in danger, and shame on the cab companies who hire risky drivers. One more thing: I'm sure I saw passengers in the back seat. I only hope they got his number and turned him in.
