BIG NEWS: Former Hollywood talent agent Jamie Gold gobbled up chips Monday, wiping out two players in the space of an hour and amassing a dominant stack of about 13 million in chips. Gold, who has represented stars such as Jimmy Fallon and Lucy Liu, expressed surprise when someone with pocket 10s called his pocket aces. "The only hand 10s can beat are nines or eights. ... or a bluff," Gold said. "It makes no sense to me. But what do I know?" Gold said he's playing for his father, who has Lou Gehrig's disease.

STUD OF THE DAY: David Einhorn, a 37-year-old hedge fund manager from New York, leaped into third place Monday after winning a 7 million, three-way all-in pot. The bigger surprise to players around him was Einhorn telling The Associated Press that his winnings will go entirely toward The Michael J. Fox Foundation to help cure Parkinson's disease. "Michael said if I make it to the final table, he'll fly out," said Einhorn, who serves on the foundation's board.

BUSTED OUT: Humberto Brenes in 36th place. He takes home $329,865.

POKER TALK: Steal: When a player attempts to win the blind bets with a lousy hand by raising big and hoping everyone folds their cards. With the blinds hitting 25,000 and 50,000 with a 5,000 ante late Monday, steals are the only way to survive with a small chip stack if one doesn't get dealt good hands. Brenes tried to steal with a five and eight of spades, but got caught with his hand in the cookie jar when his all-in bet ran into a player with pocket kings.

UP NEXT: On Tuesday, the 27 players who survived from Monday will grind down to the nine players to sit at the final table Thursday. Because the tournament is running ahead of schedule, Wednesday will be a day off. The winner will take home a top prize of $12 million while the final 12 all will win more than $1 million.
