Letter: The right to disagree is an American right
Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006 | 7:37 a.m.
Two letter writers in the July 16 Las Vegas Sun made interesting points regarding Brittany McComb's valedictory speech and her efforts to attribute her success to her savior, Jesus Christ.
However, one point that both of those letter writers overlooked in this controversy is elementary. For as many students who were graduating from Foothill High School that day, there are an equal number of opinions on what should and should not be said at graduation ceremonies.
And that, my friends, is what makes America great! I don't have to agree with you and you don't have to agree with me. We can agree to disagree in an agreeable manner.
It's called freedom of speech.
