FLASHPOINT for Apr 29, 2006
Saturday, April 29, 2006 | 7:38 a.m.
Candidates often misspell words in news releases and often mangle the English language in speeches. But on signs declaring their candidacy and designed to garner attention? Now that is unusual. So imagine how some drivers must be chuckling - or nearly driving off the road - as they pass a candidate for state treasurer's signs that actually misspell the name of the office. Yes, Geoffrey Vanderpal, who has little chance to win the contest, spells the constitutional office as "State Treasure." Now that's something that we'd all like to be running for since that surplus is supposed to be so large again. And the guy is a Democrat? Running for State Treasure. Imagine what the Republicans could do with that.
