FLASHPOINT for Apr 26, 2006

So we did a show this week on bird flu preparations in Southern Nevada, and it looks to me as if health officials and emergency management types are doing what they can to coordinate and practice for worst-case scenarios. But the scariest part about the pandemic possibility is they don't really know what to expect, especially, as county official Jim O'Brien pointed out, there aren't too many people around from the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic to pass on tips. And so what do we get from folks such as the Chamber of Commerce about preparing for such an outbreak here? Wash your hands. Cover your mouth when you cough. Oh, and stay home if you are sick. OK, mommy. See you in heaven.
