FLASHPOINT for Apr 22, 2006

As the campaign for governor begins to intensify - have you noticed? - it's interesting to note the changes in the Democratic campaigns. A couple of months ago, Senate Minority Leader Dina Titus lost her out-of-state campaign manager and retained old Nevada hand Marlene Lockard, ex-Gov. Richard Bryan's chief aide. A few weeks ago, Henderson Mayor Jim Gibson booted his out-of-state campaign chief and opted for Dan Hart, a Nevada veteran who has worked for many campaigns here. It's always entertaining to watch extra-Nevada folks come into the state and think they can handle its peculiarities, including its peculiar candidates. But Home Means Nevada when it comes to campaigns, too, I suppose.
