Rock 'n' roll nostalgia

There's a lot of history behind Johnny Maestro and The Brookln Bridge, an old-time rock 'n' roll group that will be performing at 8 p.m. April 29 at the Celebrity nightclub, 201 N. Third St. (west of Lady Luck).

The seven members of the group have been performing for about 50 years, although not together all of that time - they didn't merge their considerable talent until the early '70s.

Maestro, the leader, was a member of The Crests in the late '50s, a group based in New York and noted for such hits as "Sixteen Candles," "Trouble in Paradise," and "Step by Step."

The group disbanded in 1962, and Maestro joined The Del-Satins ("Teardrops Follow Me").

In the early 1970s, The Del-Satins and the group Rhythm Method united and became The Brooklyn Bridge, known for such hits as "Welcome Me Love," "Blessed Is The Rain" and "Your Husband My Wife."
