FLASHPOINT for Apr 08, 2006
Saturday, April 8, 2006 | 7:30 a.m.
You've heard about Tax and Spending Control, or TASC, aka the initiative that scares education, social service and health care advocates the most. It also may be Bob Beers' ticket to competitiveness in the governor's race. But what you likely haven't heard about is the sub rosa effort, led by gaming and development interests, but also including a range of groups, to raise money for a fight against TASC, should it qualify. Winner & Mandabach, perhaps the most successful and experienced ballot measure outfit in the country, has been retained to help in the fight against TASC. The strategy remains unclear, but a competing ballot proposition is possible. You'll hear more about it if TASC qualifies.
