Imagine how Democratic saliva glands began operating as they heard the news Thursday morning that Rep. Jon Porter had been served with a grand jury subpoena for documents in his office. Hello silver bullet. Goodbye, Jon Porter. Or, perhaps not. The grand jury, much to the Democrats' chagrin, was not searching for evidence of the congressman's sordid relationship with Michael Galardi or his secret payments from a Yucca Mountain contractor. No such luck for the Democrats. From the potentially sensational to the pathetically mundane: Turns out the documents related to a constituent under investigation for Social Security fraud.
