Letter: There’s no such thing as freeway ‘fast lane’
Thursday, April 6, 2006 | 6:50 a.m.
In response to Richard Simpson's April 4 letter, "Speed up or get out of the freeway's fast lane":
As a reminder, there are no so-called "fast lanes." The posted speed limit is the limit as stated in all 50 states in their rules of the road, fast lane or not.
Mr. Simpson is part of our problem of dangerous drivers if we have to get out of his way so he can break the stated rule of the road. We have no privileged drivers. If he, or anyone else, is exceeding the speed limit, then Mr. Simpson, and others, are posing a hazard to the rest of us law-abiding drivers.
Driving is a privilege, as stated by each state, and not a license to bully others on the road. I agree with Ric Hagge from Pennsylvania and his April 4 letter, "Too much speeding, reckless driving here." Slow down, Mr. Simpson, and abide by the rules of the road. And to the rest of our speeders, we will all get there safely, and in due time.
