FLASHPOINT for Apr 06, 2006
Thursday, April 6, 2006 | 6:51 a.m.
Ex-Clark County Commissioner Erin Kenny's less-than-star turn as a witness for the prosecution, every bit as pitiful as Marlene Dietrich's, has sparked much commentary. You've heard it: She was a disaster for the government because of the bizarre memory loss. The wrong commissioners are on trial considering how much money Kenny acknowledged taking. And, of course: What was the government thinking? But one point may have been missed: Frank Cremen, Kenny's attorney, should be nominated for lawyer of the year by the bar. The deal Cremen struck with the feds for Kenny, who admitted to taking hundreds of thousands in bribes, is nothing short of spectacular. Less than four years? Cremen is a genius.
