Letter: Too much speeding, reckless driving here

I couldn't agree more with Earl H. Cook's April 1 letter regarding Las Vegas traffic enforcement and the blatant lawlessness of a high percentage of our area drivers.
My wife and I moved here from Pennsylvania a couple of years ago and we wondered whether we were in a foreign country when it came time to take to the roads. Lack of adherence to motor vehicle laws and driver courtesy stood out immediately. Rolling through stop signs and lights, running red lights, excessive speed and reckless driving are representative of disregard for our laws, pure and simple.
I continue to be puzzled why Metro Police, the Nevada Highway Patrol, Henderson Police Department and North Las Vegas Police Department aren't enforcing the traffic laws and helping to protect the safety of our citizenry (including that of the violators). I realize that one officer cannot do it alone.
If it is still a manpower shortage issue, then deputize me as a traffic officer ... without pay!
