FLASHPOINT for Apr 04, 2006

Let me say this about the beautiful financial monstrosity known as the Regional Justice Center: It is a joke. Truly. I have not, as have some of my Fourth Estate colleagues, focused on the minutiae of the cost overruns and design flaws. Mea culpa, perhaps. But I paid my first visit there on Monday to attend a hearing on the 14th floor and you have to wait in a line of dozens of people just to get to the elevators! How can this make any sense? It appears that some of the elevators don't work or are remarkably slow. I pity the lawyers who have to go through the hassle day after day. Our tax dollars at work? More like our tax dollars not working. And not working. And not working.
