Riess organ concert Sunday
Saturday, April 1, 2006 | 7:29 a.m.
Dorothy Riess, longtime organist and member of the Southern Nevada chapter of the American Guild of Organists, will perform a spring concert at 7 p.m. Sunday at UNLV's Doc Rando Recital Hall in the Beam Music Center.
Riess, 74, is a former concert organist, who returned to the instrument after a long career in internal medicine. She will perform works by Bach, Schumann, Mendelssohn, Cesar Franck, Pierre Du Mage and Milos Sokola, among others.
The recital hall is home to a von Beckerath organ that was installed in July 2004 in honor of local organist and UNLV alumni Maurine Smith.
Admission to the concert is free.
