Marcia and Ken Powers of Pleasanton, Calif., left Cape Henlopen, Del., on Feb. 27 and hope to arrive at Point Reyes, Calif., sometime the middle of October, which would make them the first people to complete the entire American Discovery Trail in a continuous trek. They earlier completed the Appalachian, Continental Divide and Pacific Crest trails.
AMERICAN DISCOVERY TRAIL: Runs 4,900 miles through 15 states between Delaware's Cape Henlopen on the Atlantic Ocean and California's Point Reyes on the Pacific Ocean.
APPALACHIAN TRAIL: Runs 2,000 miles through 14 Eastern states between Georgia and Maine.
CONTINENTAL DIVIDE TRAIL: Runs 3,000 miles through five states in the Rockies between Mexico and Canada.
PACIFIC CREST TRAIL: Runs 2,650 miles through three states in the West between Mexico and Canada.
