Letter: Robertson is full of fear and hatred
Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005 | 9:24 a.m.
I find in Robertson's words the hatred that taught Tsutsies to kill Hutus in Rwanda, the fear with which the Ku Klux Klan lynched blacks and the disregard with which Nazis exterminated Jews. All this from a "man of God?" Attribution of hundreds of deaths, millions made homeless and nationwide economic and social repercussions to one lesbian's role in a TV show should be patently ridiculous and easily ignored, but they malign my God.
Many of us learned John 3:16 in Sunday School. Maybe if we bothered to learn John 3:17 we would know that Jesus came "not to condemn the world." I pray to a loving God, not some divine psychopath who destroys and murders because a lesbian is hosting a TV show.
Who could pray to such a God? Who can listen to such a man?
