Reno resort unveils details of expansion
Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005 | 11:08 a.m.
One of Reno's largest resort properties announced details of its $230 million expansion plan today.
A new 17-story, 600-room curved glass tower will increase capacity at the south Reno Peppermill Hotel-Casino to 1,625 rooms, a spokesman for the property said.
Construction is expected to start next month and be completed by September 2007.
Tuscan-themed suites with large-screen plasma televisions are planned and the Tuscan-themed lobby will serve as a new entry to the resort on Reno's main casino area, Virginia Street.
A 14,000-square-foot casino expansion, expected to be completed by next August, would increase the total square footage to 94,000. The casino will add 300 new slot machines, increasing the total to 1,900, and 12 new table games, increasing the total to 60.
The company also plans new restaurants and lounges, cafes, an arcade and a new 1,600-space parking garage. The resort also will add a 10,000-square-foot, two-story nightclub overlooking the pool area, a 50,000-square-foot convention center and a spa, salon and fitness center.
