The Clark County Commission on Tuesday appointed 12 members to a committee tasked with finding a strategy to improve an aging pipeline some planners say could leave Southern Nevada facing a crippling fuel shortage.
The group will review how best to improve the pipes responsible for bringing more than 122,000 barrels of fuel a day from the Colton Terminal in California to Las Vegas. They were built more than 40 years ago, when Las Vegas was home to about 65,000 people, and are now facing capacity, officials say.
Its members, which include representatives from the county Aviation Department, gaming, state, Defense Department and gasoline distributors, are:
Randy Walker, chairman, director of the Clark County Aviation Department; Rob Myrben, Southwest Airlines; Roberto Denis, Nevada Power Co.; Scott Andrews, Harrah's Las Vegas; Rose McKinney-James, MGM Grand; Kevin Tourec, Wynn Las Vegas; John Haycock, Haycock Petroleum; Sean Higgins, Herbst Collins; Rebecca Wagner, state energy office; Lt. Col. Kurt Searfoss, 99th Logistics Readiness Squadron, Nellis Air Force Base; Kathryn Landreth, Nature Conservancy; and Rossi Ralenkotter, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
